Here we are at the end of another year. Through the ups, the downs and everything in between, we made it. We lived. We loved. We learned.
Let’s end 2021 with purpose and begin 2022 with intention. Write, discuss, think about... Process this exercise of transition in a way that serves you best.
- Reflect on what you experienced in 2021.
Questions to get you started - What did I learn? What did I accomplish? Who did I meet? What was the best moment of the year? What do I wish I could change? What did I overcome? How did I feel? What made me recognize how I felt? Where did I go?
- Express gratitude for what you're thankful for.
A positive way to embrace transition is to express gratitude. Clarity of what
you are thankful for makes it more familiar and helps you experience more of
it.
Questions to get you started – What makes me happy? What are my gifts? How have I helped others? What gives me energy? What has strengthened my faith? What do I know now that I didn’t a year ago? What am I curious about?
- Let go of what you want to leave behind. A
beautiful truth about the beginning of a New Year is the feeling of a fresh
start. Embrace this time of transition and
leave behind what no longer serves your highest good.
Questions to get you started – What beliefs are holding me back? What do I feel guilty about? What do I wish I could change but can’t? What are my unhealthy habits? Am I withholding forgiveness? Is it time to change my boundaries? What weighs me down or keeps me stuck? What do I want to say no to? What gets in my way when I want to say yes?
- Set intentions for 2022. Setting goals for the New Year is a common
practice but without setting intentions those goals can lose their
meaning. Setting intentions creates clarity and helps identify what actions align with and support what we really want. I’ll give you an example. I have a petite build and I have a not so
petite belly. I wanted a slim belly
and decided that my goal should be to lose weight. I met that goal but I still didn’t lose my
belly. So, I got specific one year and
set a goal to have a flatter belly. I
reached that goal too but still wasn’t happy with the results and I was hungry most of the time (more like hangry). When I
asked the hard questions and got honest with myself, I realized I wanted to
feel good about how I looked. Coming to
that realization changed everything.
When my intention was to feel good about how I looked, my goals
changed. Instead of losing weight, I set
a goal to stop comparing my body to others.
Instead of hating on my belly, I decided to give it some love and make
changes that impacted the health of my gut.
Questions to help you get started – What do I want to create? How do I want to feel? What change do I want to see in my world? What do I want to accomplish? What does success mean to me? What makes me happy? What brings harmony to my life? What nudges have I ignored? Am I being honest with myself?
Have fun with this exercise and I hope 2022 is filled with
what makes you happy.
Stay wild!
